Inspect against the agreed drawing revision
Identify the truck, body and approved equipment list before recording inspection results. Agree who demonstrates the system, who witnesses it and who accepts exceptions. Unlabelled photos of moving wings do not establish compliance with the order.
Have supplier personnel use the manufacturer’s demonstration procedure. Record alignment, locks, seals, visible hydraulic or electrical condition and the protective functions actually fitted. Safe conditions and fault handling depend on the selected body.
Keep operation, dimensions and payload as separate checks
Opening successfully does not verify clear dimensions, load allowance or every protective function. Nippon Fruehauf’s construction descriptions offer inspection categories; they do not imply identical components on the quoted KEEYAK body.

| Decision | What to establish | Condition or limit |
|---|---|---|
| Body identity and finish | Reconcile installed equipment with the order and record panel fit, exposed edges, mountings and visible damage. | Cosmetic photographs do not verify structural design or the installation calculations. |
| Opening movement | Have the supplier demonstrate each quoted operating mode from the designated controls and record abnormal movement or contact. | Do not improvise a cycle count, wind limit or fault test; agree the applicable manufacturer procedure. |
| Hydraulic equipment, where fitted | Inspect accessible hoses, cylinders and connections for identification, routing and visible leakage during the authorized demonstration. | A clean external appearance does not establish internal pressure settings or component condition. |
| Locks and travel condition | Verify that each panel and sidegate can reach its specified closed and secured state and that the operator can identify that state. | A lowered panel is not evidence that every travel lock has engaged. |
| Seals and ingress | Inspect seal continuity, mating surfaces and corner fit; apply only the previously agreed ingress check. | Do not substitute an improvised hose test for a contractual weather-protection or ingress rating. |
| Controls and protective functions | Match labels, isolation, warnings and any interlocks to the manual and ask the supplier to demonstrate the approved checks. | Record absent functions as specification questions; do not claim that all wing bodies include identical protection. |
| Release documents | Close discrepancies against evidence, then hand over manuals, component references, spare keys and service contacts. | A signed delivery receipt should not silently waive unresolved acceptance items. |
Close each exception before the agreed release
Keep the inspection conditions, results and corrective records with the vehicle identity. Obtain the applicable operating and service documents, then record which items remain open and who is responsible for their closure.
Information to prepare for this review
- Accepted quotation, signed body drawing and final option list with the required revision
- Vehicle and body identifiers, inspection location, named supplier demonstrator and buyer witness
- Required dimensions, cargo schedule, payload evidence and agreed measurement tolerances
- List of controls, protective devices, manual provisions and warning labels actually included
- Agreed weather-ingress check method and acceptance criteria if weather protection is contractual
- Defect classification, correction evidence and authority to sign the release record
Records to request and keep
- Vehicle and body identification photographs linked to the signed inspection sheet
- As-built dimensions covering cargo floor, side aperture, floor height and agreed opening clearance
- Completed mass and axle evidence for the contractual loading condition
- Functional record naming controls used, operating conditions, observations and the applicable procedure
- Close-up records of locks, seal corners, accessible hose routing and any corrected defects
- Agreed water-ingress result where included, with method and observed locations documented
- Operator manual, maintenance schedule, component list and demonstration attendance record
- Final exception register stating closure evidence or the buyer's explicit acceptance of a documented deviation
Common mistakes and what to check instead
- Accepting a body because it opens once: Use the full agreed acceptance matrix, including closing, locking, dimensions and documentation.
- Testing emergency behavior by disconnecting components: Require the manufacturer to supply and carry out the approved check; keep unauthorized fault simulation out of the inspection.
- Leaving minor defects only in a chat message: Add each defect to the vehicle-specific register with a responsible party and closure evidence.
Scope of this guide
This checklist is for procurement and witnessing; it is not a procedure for working beneath raised wings or repairing stored-energy equipment.
The manual and applicable destination inspection requirements determine the safe method and required technical sign-off.
Send the approved drawing and acceptance matrix with the inquiry so inspection scope and witness arrangements can be included in the quotation.
Sources and applicability
Manufacturer example of a wing body, sidegates, locks and sealing details. Model materials and performance belong to Nippon Fruehauf, not KEEYAK.
Does not establish: It applies to the named manufacturer example and does not establish a KEEYAK model rating or project result.
UK workplace reference for planning loading areas, handling equipment and load security. Used to frame buyer questions, not to claim regulatory approval.
Does not establish: It is authority, jurisdiction or subject specific and does not approve the selected vehicle for another destination or project.
