Start with the cargo at loading, then follow the delivery route
A refrigeration unit can look adequate by its nominal capacity yet fail to hold the required condition on a delivery route. Heat through the body, open doors, warm cargo and restricted airflow all change the duty the unit must meet.
Agree who pre-cools the cargo and body, how the load is arranged, how often doors open, and how temperatures will be recorded. Transport refrigeration normally maintains preconditioned cargo; cooling or freezing warm goods needs its own defined design requirement.
Specify the body, cooling system and operating pattern together
The cargo owner’s accepted temperature range gives the review its starting point. Body insulation, door use, airflow and available power determine how the equipment can support that requirement. Include partitions, rails, refrigeration equipment and fuel in the payload assessment.

Does a food-distribution truck also suit medicines?
Not automatically. Start with the cargo owner’s approved transport range and quality requirements, then agree the route, loading pattern, monitoring, alarms and response to temperature excursions. A broad truck temperature range or an ATP reference does not establish suitability for every pharmaceutical shipment.

Agree the ambient condition, cargo acceptance band, initial cargo and box temperatures, insulation and door condition, load arrangement, door-opening schedule, sensor locations and calibration, power mode and recording interval. Agree what a route-temperature record must show
Send the cargo range, starting condition, load pattern and delivery schedule to the refrigeration supplier. Define monitoring and the response to excursions with the responsible cargo owner. Keep a proposed test protocol separate from a completed test of the vehicle.
