Choose around the vehicles you recover
A flatbed tow truck, also called a rollback or slidebed carrier, uses a hydraulically operated platform to load and transport a vehicle with its wheels on the deck. Passenger cars, SUVs and light commercial vehicles can need different usable lengths, restraint positions and loading arrangements.
List the vehicles you handle most often and the difficult cases: long wheelbases, low ground clearance, locked wheels or collision damage. For AWD and electric vehicles, follow the transport instructions for the specific model. The Hyundai manual linked here is one example requiring all wheels of its AWD vehicles to remain off the road; it is not a rule for every vehicle. Hyundai owner’s manual: towing service

| Recovery work | Information to provide | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Passenger cars | Wheelbase, overall length and mass | Usable deck space and restraint positions |
| SUVs and light commercial vehicles | Actual mass and wheel positions | Completed payload and individual axle loads |
| AWD and electric vehicles | Exact model and transport instructions | Compatible loading and transport method |
| Accident-damaged vehicles | Wheel, suspension and recovery-point condition | Suitable equipment and a qualified recovery plan |
| Low-clearance vehicles | Ground clearance and front/rear overhangs | The whole loading path, including deck transitions |
Check the complete truck specification
KEEYAK publishes a flatbed length range of 5,000–8,000 mm and a reference platform load of 5 t. These are configuration references, not one universal truck specification. Maximum figures in different rows should not be assumed available together. KEEYAK Flatbed Wrecker configuration reference
Request a drawing showing usable deck width and length, wheel positions, rear overhang and restraint locations. A longer deck can change the chassis requirement and axle loading. A low vehicle may clear the first approach and still contact a deck transition.
The completed truck must stay within its approved gross vehicle weight and each axle limit after accounting for the body, crew, fuel, tools and recovered vehicle. Review the intended load position as well as the total mass.

| Item | Published reference | Confirm for the selected truck |
|---|---|---|
| Flatbed length | 5,000–8,000 mm | Usable length, width and target vehicle fit |
| Platform load | 5 t | Rating conditions, completed payload and axle loads |
| Winch | 4–15 t configuration range | Installed winch model, rated line pull and operating conditions |
| Rear tow boom | 2.5–15 t; rating basis to be confirmed | Equipment type, rating basis and load chart at the required geometry |
| Controls | Operation from both sides | Confirm the linkage arrangement and control layout |
| Loading arrangement | Standard / Full Drop | Selected mechanism and the complete loading path |
Ask for a quotation with a defined supply scope
A useful quotation identifies the chassis model, engine and emissions configuration, wheelbase, platform, winch, any rear lift, accessories and exclusions. One offer may include a complete truck, restraints and rear-lift equipment; another may cover only a chassis and platform or a separate recovery body.
Ask each supplier to price the same requirement. For a recovery-body package, identify the receiving chassis and the workshop responsible for mounting, connections and completed-vehicle checks.
Write the Incoterms rule, version and named location into the offer. Your freight provider and customs adviser can establish freight, local charges, duties, taxes and registration costs for the chosen scope. Count each cost once when it is already included in an offer. International Trade Administration: Know Your Incoterms
KEEYAK does not list a fixed price for every flatbed configuration. Request a project-specific quotation covering the supplied truck or body, options, inspection evidence and delivery terms.
Two recorded export configurations
The February 2026 shipment to Manzanillo, Mexico, included one complete ISUZU wrecker and two separate recovery-body packages. The September 2025 shipment to Callao, Peru, was a Dongfeng flatbed tow truck. The table compares the recorded complete-truck configurations. These records describe historical configurations and shipment stages. They do not establish current availability, specifications for a repeat order or completed local registration. The two additional Mexico body packages were not complete trucks.
Close the open questions before shipment
Agree on the technical specification and inspection scope before the final order is accepted. Keep the following records tied to the actual vehicle or body being supplied.
- Confirm the registered supplier, contract party and whether the offer covers a complete truck or a body package.
- Approve the chassis model, steering side, engine and emissions configuration, wheelbase, deck dimensions, equipment ratings, options and exclusions.
- Review completed mass, axle loading and loading geometry for the intended recovery duty.
- Agree on photographs, equipment identification, hydraulic function checks and documented load testing where applicable. An empty-deck movement demonstration does not prove rated payload.
- Confirm transport dimensions, shipping method, cargo securing, invoice, packing details and the documents required by the agreed delivery terms.
- Have the local importer or authorised adviser confirm destination registration, emissions, weights and dimensions, steering configuration, required approvals and customs procedures before shipment.
Import and road-use requirements depend on the destination and exact vehicle. Export readiness does not establish registration eligibility.
Questions buyers ask
Is a rollback tow truck the same as a flatbed tow truck?
The terms are often used for a truck with a tilting or sliding recovery platform. Confirm the actual deck mechanism and whether the offer includes a winch, rear wheel lift or other recovery equipment.
Can a 5 t flatbed carry a 5 t vehicle?
Only if the completed vehicle payload, axle loading, load position and equipment conditions also permit it. The platform rating alone is insufficient.
Is a flatbed suitable for electric vehicles?
It can be suitable where the vehicle manufacturer requires all road wheels to remain off the ground. The exact model, vehicle condition and loading instructions still determine the method.
How does a 5 t winch differ from a 5 t platform?
The winch rating concerns pulling capability under stated conditions; the platform rating concerns a carrying load. Neither establishes the other rating or the completed truck’s legal payload.
What should I send for a quotation?
Send the destination country, target vehicle types, masses and dimensions, required deck and loading equipment, chassis preferences and intended delivery terms. State whether you need a complete truck or an upper body.
Prepare your flatbed tow truck enquiry
Send KEEYAK the recovery duty and destination requirements with any target-vehicle dimensions or drawings you have. We can discuss chassis and body options and the scope of a quotation. Final specifications, availability and commercial terms require written confirmation.
